Founded in 2001, Ballin PR & Marketing works with musical talent, interior designers, and architects, building digital identities and growing brands. Based on the principle that marketing must be integrated, Ballin develops holistic campaigns, employing tactics such as social media management, content marketing and PR to help clients gain exposure in the constantly changing media and digital landscape.
"Today's media landscape is cluttered with content, but not always compelling stories," says founder Nicole Balin, who has over two decades in PR, building relationships with music and shelter, and music journalists, bloggers, influencers, and industry insiders. "Crafting the right narrative is at the essence of what we do."
Balin has a proven track record in story-telling. Prior to becoming a publicist, she was a news and culture journalist for over a decade. She is the co-author of the Big Freedia memoir God Save the Queen Diva! (Gallery Books/Simon & Schuster) and served as an editor at The Source magazine, the undisputed Bible of hip-hop in the 90s. Her writing has appeared in The Los Angeles Times, Parenting, Huffington Post,The Source, and The Source Sports.
Ballin PR has built a client roster that includes the Grammy-Award winning group Linkin Park, Too $hort, Kool Keith, Guru, Kool G. Rap, Roots Manuva, Zion-I, Z-Trip, People Under the Stairs, and reality TV star and music artist Big Freedia.
After two decades in the music business, Nicole Balin decided to expand the scope of her work to include her other passion: design. Over the past three years, she has immersed herself in the industry, including serving as PR Director at Coupar Communications for a year and half, where she worked with top Bay Area designers including The Wiseman Group, Kendall Wilkinson, Regan Baker, Allison Caccoma and Melanie Coddington.
