1. Your album is completely finished. Doesn’t have to be mixed and mastered, but too many artists start shopping for PR before recording any music. You’re album and at least one video ready from the record should be a week or two away from completion.
2. You have the full budget. Some artists have the misconception that press leads to sales which leads to income, but that’s simply not the case (what press does do is another story and will be addressed in a forthcoming post). Make sure you have the money for the full amount of the PR budget so you aren’t left unable to finish a campaign.
3. Your social media assets are ready. It should go without saying, but I still get artists who are ready to roll out a campaign without social media assets. Make sure your website, Facebook fan page, Twitter account, Youtube channel, APPs are up and running.
