LA hip-hop artists CookBook (of L.A. Symphony) and Evidence (of Dilated Peoples) are excited to announce their latest effort, A Whole New Cook. The seven track EP is the latest installment in the series from Cookbook which features a different producer for each project.
After a Phantom Menice with DJ Rhettmattic of the World Famous Beat Junkies, and Yes with Blu, this time around, Cook tosses the production keys to the enigmatic artist and producer Evidence to bring forth a new chapter not only in CookBook’s solo career, but in his personal life as well.
Accented with features by Madchild of Swollen Members, LMNO of The Visionaries, and DJ Babu of Dilated Peoples, along with a quick drop in by Evidence himself, the EP will have listeners hanging onto CookBook’s every word as he takes you on a ride and introduces you to multiple sides of his multilayered personality.
Laced in a blanket of darker, grittier beats than we’ve been accustom to hearing CookBook on in the past, the EP showcases one of Evidence’s truest and possibly most unappreciated talents: having the ability to piece together an immaculate set of songs that paints a perfect picture necessary to introduce an unseen or unexpected perspective.
Originally making his introduction in the early 2000’s as a member of the seminal west coast hip hop group, L.A. Symphony, CookBook has always masterfully maintained the balance between being a loyal group member, and constantly pushing his envelope as a producer and solo artist.
Unapologetic and raw, CookBook sounds more comfortable than ever on A Whole New Cook. Bringing a more laid back flow and sitting deeper in the pocket of the beat than usual, he never strays from his comical side, but we get to know a more insightful, introspective, and bold CookBook on this latest project.
