Screen-Shot-2013-07-31-at-2.34.58-PMHailing from Denver, emerging NYC-based MC/producer Deca has been in the mix for a few years now, quietly blazing trails within indie hip-hop. In advance of the release of his third album, The Ocean, we’re pleased to world premiere the video for lead track “Breadcrumbs.” An eye-catching stop-motion affair set in space, the song’s protagonist is trying to make the best out of a bad situation.

“The song is about societal ills,” Deca tells us. “It’s like a man huddled in a corner with drones overhead and used hypodermics lying around him. He’s letting his mind wander and making light of the situation. For the video, the director [and animator Steven Mertens] and I came up with a sort of dreamlike space odyssey to tie in with the theme of the album.”

Stanley Kubrick would enjoy this space odyssey.

Deca’s The Ocean will be released in September.
